British Holidays
One of Britain's Holidays is one that is also celebrated in America and a lot of other countries. It is Christmas. How they celebrate it is closest to how America does it than any other country. They put up a big pine tree and decorate it so that it's all lit up and shiny. The morning of Christmas(December 25th) the whole family goes to their tree to find that Santa has put presents under it. They then proceed to open them and later they all get together to have a big dinner. So basically, it is the same as American Christmas. |
One weird holiday (actually it's more of a festival) is the Cheese Rolling at Cooper's Hill. This festival consists of a truckle of cheese being rolled down a hill and having people chase after it. Because of the bumpy hill, people usually fall and end up getting badly injured. The reason while this still goes on despite the injuries is unknown.
April Fools' Day is a very well known holiday too. People spend the days pranking each other in any way possible. The pranks can vary from as small as putting plastic wrap in a doorway to putting your friend on a chase for something that doesn't even exist! It's all fun and games though, it's not meant to be hurtful for anyone. People usually spend the day before planning all the hilarious things that they're gonna do to their friends while they sit back and watch(probably laugh too).
